Centreville High School (Clifton, VA) was the site of Nike’s The Opening Regional Washington D.C. last Sunday, April 17. Below are news and notes from the event, beginning with recruiting updates from Virginia Tech targets Hezekiah Grimsley, Sean Savoy, Jonathan Sutherland, and Ricky Slade Jr. (2018 Class prospect).

HEZEKIAH GRIMSLEY, WR, CLASS OF 2017

The Opening Regional was the first such combine for Lafayette (Williamsburg, VA) wide receiver Hezekiah Grimsley, who didn’t waste the opportunity to compete against some of the top prospects from around the area. Grimsley took the field as often as possible to try and show off his talents. Overall I thought he had a good day, showing good quickness and hands along with solid route running.

The 6’0”, 175-pound junior visited Virginia Tech a few weeks ago and recalls the experience as “great. They showed me everything. They told me all the opportunities I would have, like how much they throw the ball. I like the way they play. I like how fast the tempo was. I like all the coaches. I can tell they know what they’re doing. They don’t have any favorites. Everyone is like the same. I like the players. They know what they’re doing. Everybody’s on the same page.”
