Virginia Tech’s focus right now is closing out the class of 2016 in strong fashion; however, once National Signing Day is over, the full focus will turn to class of 2017 recruiting. The Hokies have one commitment in the fold in the class of 2017, and he comes from a school that has been good to Tech the past several years.

“I’m still committed to VT,” Stonewall Jackson (Manassas, VA) junior Devante Smith answered when asked if he remained solid in the pledge he gave to Virginia Tech in the summer of 2015, at which time Frank Beamer was still head coach.

Smith has yet to speak with new head coach Justin Fuente but believes the “new staff is committed to me too.”

Might Smith listen to other schools? Have any others reached out so far this offseason?
