6’6”, 265-pound Nick Coe is one of the most highly coveted defensive line prospects in the East. At this point, though, the Asheboro (N.C.) senior is focused on three: Auburn, Florida State and Virginia Tech.

Asheboro head coach Owen George provided the latest on his standout recruit.

“I think [Auburn, Florida State and Virginia Tech] are his final three,” George said. “I talked to him a little bit about if he had any interest in the in-state schools, and he said no. He mentioned Miami, but I have had no contact with them. I’ve been in contact with [Virginia Tech defensive line coach Charley] Wiles frequently. I’ve been in touch with Auburn and Florida State.”

Each program will be able to make its case when Coe makes visits in the coming months. Florida State has the first crack in terms of official visits as Coe is scheduled to go to Tallahassee Halloween weekend. He plans to take an official to Auburn the final weekend in November, which is when the Tigers host Alabama in the Iron Bowl. The star defensive lineman has also scheduled an official to Virginia Tech the weekend of January 22-24. In addition, Coe plans to take an unofficial visit to Blacksburg in October for a game, though the exact date has not been finalized.
