Hanahan (S.C.) standout athlete Sam Denmark has committed to Virginia Tech for football. This spring, however, the 6’0”, 175-pound rising senior showed off his talents in another sport: Track.

The future Hokie captured two individual Class AAA state championships in 2015 – the 100 meters, which he ran in 10.65 seconds, and 200 meters – and was part of the state title winning 4X100 relay team. These accomplishments come one year after Denmark earned a 2nd place finish in the 100 and a 3rd place finish in the 200 in the 2014 state track meet.

Track is something Denmark may consider doing in college, but for now the primary focus is football. Speed is certainly an asset the wide receiver prospect will bring to the table. This offseason, he is working to solidify other areas of his game with route running being one point of emphasis.

“I’ve been watching film and then also working with my trainer. He helps me with running routes,” said Denmark, who averaged 18.6 yards per catch his junior season. As a sophomore, he had 40 catches for 912 yards.
