Ty Outlaw is another versatile prospect who can potentially play three different positions for the Hokies, though he is best used as a combo forward. He’ll give Buzz Williams yet another scoring threat, as well as a potential matchup issue for opponents.

I’m writing this article as if Ty Outlaw is officially a part of Virginia Tech’s class. Chris Horne’s excellent update from this morning shows compelling evidence that Outlaw has indeed committed to Tech, though his junior college coach continues to deny it.

Outlaw visited Virginia Tech back on the weekend of April 17, and I heard he wanted to commit. Buzz Williams took the biggest need (Johnny Hamilton at center) and with no more scholarships available, we didn’t hear any new news for a month. DeShawn Freeman, who we also heard wanted to come to Tech, ended up verballing to Rutgers. When that happened, I figured the Hokies were done with this recruiting class.
