Coach Discusses Virginia Tech Commit Victor Greene

Thanks in part to 1,000-yard rusher Victor Greene, Courtland (Spotsylvania, VA) went 10-3 with two playoff victories in the 2013 season. In the spring of 2014, Virginia Tech defensive coordinator Bud Foster stopped by Courtland to take a closer look at Greene, who at the time was a sophomore.

Coach Foster was impressed, and Greene would earn an invite to Tech’s one-day camp in June that year.

“Prior to that camp, last spring Coach Foster met Vic. That was the first time he met him,” Courtland head coach J.C. Hall recalled. “When Vic left, Coach Foster said to me, ‘That kid will put on another 20 pounds.’ Vic was 5’10”, 178 pounds at the time. Coach Foster said he would be a big kid. Long story short, on the first day of preseason practice Vic was 5’11”, 202 pounds. I told Bud he must have a sixth sense. Anything he tells me now, I’ll believe.”

Greene received a scholarship offer from the Hokies just before the June camp. Last Friday, the talented and versatile prospect rewarded Virginia Tech’s pursuit with a verbal commitment.
