Coe Visits VT, Lands Offer

Asheboro (N.C.) head coach Owen George spoke with Virginia Tech defensive line coach Charley Wiles last Saturday, thanking Wiles for the hospitality he and the rest of the Virginia Tech staff showed prospect Nick Coe and an Asheboro assistant during the Hokies’ Junior Day event that occurred earlier in the day. Coach Wiles replied with some good news for Coe, a 6’6”, 275-pound junior.

“Coach Wiles said he wanted to let me know they were officially offering Nick. He said they had a great meeting with him,” George said.

Virginia Tech is the fifth school to offer Coe, who played defensive end and tight end last season. North Carolina, West Virginia, Old Dominion and Charlotte have offered as well.

“I spoke with Nick and asked him if he had a top three, first choice or whatever,” George said. “He said he doesn’t have a first choice. Virginia Tech is definitely in his top three as well as West Virginia and UNC. He was a Virginia Tech fan growing up in Richmond, Virginia. He moves down here in the sixth grade and went to camps and enjoyed the Tar Heels. He went to West Virginia for the Oklahoma game last fall. It was a great atmosphere there.”
