St. John’s (Washington, D.C.) class of 2016 prospect Devante Brooks cites Virginia Tech as one of the most active schools in his recruitment thus far. The standout tight end reciprocated the interest when he made a visit to Tech this past Saturday to see his first ever regular season game in Lane Stadium.

Brooks, who attended camp at Tech earlier this summer, described last Saturday’s experience as “great. Loved the atmosphere, the people, the coaches. There’s a lot of things to love about VTech. Campus is great. Love how everything was within walking distance.”

Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Nebraska, North Carolina, NC State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Tennessee and Virginia Tech have offered scholarships to Brooks, who plays tight end and defensive end in high school but is being recruited by most college coaches as a tight end.

“College coaches have told me they love the work ethic I have and the ability I have to [play with a] hand in the ground or split out wide to cause mismatches,” wrote the 6’5″, 225-pound Brooks.
