Buzz has been busy

In the past, the most difficult part of recruiting for Virginia Tech in both football and basketball was getting prospects to visit, or to take multiple visits.  You’ve heard Frank Beamer say it multiple times: “If we can get a guy on campus, we feel good about our chances,” or something to that effect.  The same thing applies to Virginia Tech basketball, and perhaps even moreso than football because Tech’s hoops program doesn’t enjoy the same prestige as their gridiron counterparts.

I was talking to one of my best hoops sources today, and he said that Tech’s current staff is very similar to Seth Greenberg’s staff in how hard they work, but that ultimately Greenberg’s inability to get many of his top targets to visit was always an issue.  It hasn’t seemed to be an issue for Tech’s new coach thus far.

Buzz Williams has been a very busy man recently, hosting numerous prospects from various classes on unofficial visits to Virginia Tech.  As far as I can tell, at least 13 players have visited since June 6.  That doesn’t even count the numerous players who visited since his arrival, such as Ahmed Hill, Satchel Pierce, Seth Allen, John Egbunu, plus others we don’t even know about.
