Hill Takes Step Back, Reopens Recruitment

Trevon Hill had his list narrowed down to Clemson, North Carolina, NC State, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. Virginia Beach (VA) Salem’s star defensive end eyed May 27 as the day when he would announce his college decision. The 6’4”, 215-pound rising senior deciding against an early commitment, though, and in an interview last night updated where he now stands in his decision-making process.

“Right now I’m back open,” said Hill, whose scholarship offer total is in double digits and includes Clemson, Duke, North Carolina, NC State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, West Virginia and Wisconsin. “I’m open-minded again. I had a good talk with my parents. I felt in my heart and mind I knew where I wanted to go, but I didn’t want to rush my decision. I want to take my time during this process. Plus, I haven’t seen everything I really wanted to see. I think I am going to take all five official visits.”

Virginia Tech and North Carolina were the perceived favorites in the weeks before May 27. Hill still seems high on both schools.

“With Tech, I’m in touch with basically all the coaches on a daily basis,” Hill said. “Coach Brown, Coach Wiles, Coach Stinespring… Tech is a big family, for real. I really like that about them. My former teammates Bucky (Hodges) and Andrew (Motuapuaka) were recruited there. They tell me a lot of things about it. That’s a plus.
