Northside Notes: ND Offers Hall

Notre Dame extended a scholarship offer yesterday to Northside (Roanoke, VA) standout Chance Hall, a two-way lineman who helped the Vikings capture the 3A state championship in 2013.  Hall, a 6’4″, 290-pound rising senior, is also considering scholarships from Duke, Marshall, Maryland, North Carolina, NC State, Old Dominion, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

“I think he was a little bit shocked and excited [about the Notre Dame offer],” Northside head coach Burt Torrence said. “He had received a lot of mail and had been in contact through social media, but I think he was shocked and excited. Notre Dame is recruiting him as a defensive linemen, which is unlike most schools. That is intriguing to him, but I know he is happy playing on either side of the ball. It won’t be a factor in his decision.”

Marshall and Vanderbilt have also offered Hall as a defensive lineman. UVa likes him on defense but feels he could play on either side of the line. The majority of the schools in pursuit are recruiting Hall as an offensive lineman, which he played for the first time on the high school level this past season.

Hall has visited most of the schools that have offered. What’s up next in his decision making process?
