Camper Headlines Cox’ Class Of 2015

Cox (Virginia Beach, VA) class of 2015 offensive lineman Blake Camper has seen his recruitment heat up over the course of the past month or two. The 6’7”, 270-pound junior has received four scholarship offers in that time, including Maryland, Old Dominion, Rutgers and Virginia. He hopes to add to his offer list this weekend.

“He has an offer from Virginia. That was one of the trips he made a few weeks ago. He got out and visited some schools, so coaches saw him first-hand and were very impressed. When coaches saw him in person, a few offers came out,” said
Falcons head coach Bill Stachelski. “Coach Stinespring has been in contact trying to get him to Virginia Tech, which I think he’ll do later this month. This weekend he’s going to his dad’s alma mater – Duke – and then he’ll stop by UNC before going to Vanderbilt.”

Stachelski knew of Camper when the promising prospect was in middle school, where Blake played under his father, John. John is now the offensive line coach at Cox.

“Blake wasn’t as big then obviously, but he quickly transformed once he got to high school,” Stachelski recalled. “He’s a great kid. He has worked hard in the weight room. Like many, he wasn’t able to play on the varsity his freshman year, but we labeled him early as one of the best linemen to come through in a while. He had that 6’5”, 6’6”-ish frame. He played varsity his sophomore. He played mostly on the JV to give him confidence, but he played some varsity. Last year was his first full year on the varsity. He went from guard to tackle, and then we flipped him from right tackle to left tackle. He got a look at everything except center.”
