Recruiting Storylines: Final Weekend Before NSD

Final Weekend Before Signing Day

The final weekend before National Signing Day has arrived and Virginia Tech is looking to close out strong. Two top uncommitted targets – Isaiah McKenzie and Raymon Minor – are scheduled to arrive in Blacksburg Friday night, beginning their official visits.

American Heritage (Plantation, FL) wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie, an Under Armour All-American, cancelled a previously scheduled trip to Notre Dame to make an official to Tech this weekend. McKenzie, a 5’9″, 175-pound senior, grew up a fan of the Hokies, who only came through with an offer this month. He is also considering Florida and Ole Miss, but if this weekend goes well it would not surprise to see him leave Blacksburg as a member of Tech’s class of 2014. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that he will be a Signing Day decision (8 am), though.

Raymon Minor, a 6’3″, 225-pound linebacker/wide receiver out of Benedictine (Richmond, VA), has been to Tech many times before. I would say Virginia Tech is a lock, but if there is a situation where Minor wouldn’t be able to gain admission, he may go with Marshall, which appears to be Tech’s top competition at this point. If he does go with Tech, look for him to play linebacker once he makes it to Blacksburg.
