Top Prospect Fisher Gains Admission

2013 Under Armour All-American safety prospect Holland Fisher rang in 2014 with some good news. On Saturday, January 4, Fisher learned that he had been accepted by Virginia Tech admissions.

Fisher was a team captain during his postgraduate season at Fork Union.

“Shane Beamer actually called my mom and told her admissions had accepted me. She told me when I got home,” said Fisher, who signed a letter of intent with Virginia Tech in February of 2013. He graduated from Manchester High School (Midlothian, VA) in the spring of 2013 but attended Fork Union Military Academy this past fall after being denied admission by Tech last summer.

Recalling that Saturday, Fisher said: “My mom tried to hold it in. I got home and she didn’t tell me right away. She was walking around all day with a smile on her face. Before we ate dinner, she let me know. She said, ‘Shane called me today.’ I asked her what he said and then she told me admissions had accepted me. They were just waiting to find out the date I could get there. I was running around the house.”

Fisher added: “It was a big sigh of relief. I’ve been bustin’ my butt through high school and prep to get there. I put in a lot of hard work, and to know it paid off now is a good feeling. I stayed focused.”
