Nnadi Sets Final Official

Derrick Nnadi is currently in San Antonio, Texas, preparing for the 2014 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, which takes place this Saturday, January 4, at 1 pm EST (broadcast live on NBC). The 6’2”, 300-pound senior will soon take to the recruiting trail once again, though, and he has three official visits on tap before National Signing Day arrives on February 5.

Each high school senior prospect is allowed five official visits. Nnadi has taken two – one to Penn State and another to Florida State – and is scheduled to go to Ohio State (January 17-19), Virginia Tech (January 24-26), and UVa (January 31-February 2). FSU, OSU, PSU, and Virginia Tech have been Nnadi’s top four for the past few months. Virginia has trailed those four schools but appears set to get a look, fighting off a hard charge from Tennessee for that fifth official spot.

“I mean, they’ve been with me ever since I started playing football, so I might as well give them the benefit of the doubt,” Nnadi said of Virginia.

Nnadi has taken his time in this recruiting process, and in recent weeks he has kept quiet in terms of naming a clear favorite. He says he is going into the final three visits “open minded” and not locked into any one school. A Signing Day announcement seems likely, though the talented lineman did not rule out a pre-Signing Day decision.
