Mitchell Talks 2-Peat, Senior Season
Paramus Catholic (Paramus, N.J.) is the Non-Public, Group 4 state champion for the second consecutive season. The Paladins accomplished the feat by defeating St. Peter’s Prep, 13-6, in this year’s championship game.
Virginia Tech-bound offensive lineman Billy Ray Mitchell, a senior, compared this year’s championship with last year’s.
“The first one was awesome for the school. We were the underdogs and nobody expected us to make that type of noise. It was an awesome moment,” he said. “Last year, with Don Bosco losing, we avoided them in the playoffs. This year, we beat Don Bosco. This year we beat St. Peter’s. Both [championships] were awesome but the fact that we are going out doing it two times in a row and bringing the program to where it is now, it’s great.”
