Andrew Ford Talks Visit, Loeffler

Cedar Cliff (Camp Hill, PA) head coach Jim Cantafio refers to Virginia Tech-bound quarterback Andrew Ford as a “football junkie.”  With that in mind, it certainly was not a surprise to see the 6’3″, 200-pound signal caller watching from the sidelines during Virginia Tech’s preseason practice on Monday.  Ford, though, was in Blacksburg for more than just football.

“I really wanted to get my mom there.  Actually, this was her first time down on campus,” said Ford, who arrived at Tech this past Sunday and stayed through Monday.  “My goal was to get her down there and get her comfortable.  It was also a time for me to attend practice and see the coaches and players at practice.  It was a great experience to sit with the guys, to see how they handle themselves in practice and in the film room.”

Ford will graduate from Cedar Cliff this December with the intention of enrolling at Tech in January of 2014, another reason why it was important for his mother to get to know the school and the football program better.

“I’m the oldest child, so she’s sending her first away to college,” Ford said.  “As we talked with them — we got to talk to Coach Beamer and coaches and professors — my mom saw the benefits.  Once she saw all the positives, she definitely wants what’s best for me and she was good with it.”
