Pope John XXIII (Sparta, N.J.) rising senior tight end Ryan Izzo has collected 18 scholarship offers since Virginia Tech came through with the first back in March.  Only five or six schools will make the cut for the 6’6″, 215-pound prospect, who plans to announce his favorites next week.

Before Izzo reveals his top list, he’ll make three more college visits.

“On Saturday, I’m going to Iowa.  On Monday I’m going to Wisconsin, and on Tuesday I’m going out to Southern Cal,” Izzo said.  “After that, I don’t have any more visits planned.”

Accompanied by his family, head coach Brian Carlson, and two teammates (rising senior WR Noah Brown and rising sophomore QB Sonny Abramson), Izzo attended Virginia Tech’s Spring Game in April.  That experience, coupled with the good relationship he has developed with primary recruiter Cornell Brown, was enough to ensure Virginia Tech a place in the talented prospect’s list of finalists.
