Kalen McCain reneged on his verbal to Virginia Tech yesterday in what was surprising news.  He had been committed to the Hokies since the middle of April, and his change of course was totally out of the blue.

How he chose to make it public on Twitter was interesting, though in these days of social media, we shouldn’t be surprised.

That’s nice, isn’t it?

Here is yet another recruit who doesn’t actually realize what a “commitment” really is when he makes it.  Then again, he’s got his whole future ahead of him, and he only gets to make his college decision once.  He needs to make sure he gets it right.  If he’s happier somewhere else, he needs to go there.  There’s no sense having somebody around who isn’t 100% committed to the program.
