Bradshaw Realizes Dream

Jaylen Bradshaw has wanted to go to Virginia Tech since he was in the 8th grade.  This past Sunday, Bradshaw, now a rising senior at Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, VA), was offered a full scholarship by head coach Frank Beamer following an excellent performance at Tech’s one-day camp.  Wednesday night, the 6’1″, 175-pound wide receiver prospect accepted the offer.

“I was talking to my mom about it.  I told her, ‘I guess I’m ready to do it.’  I called [Oscar Smith head coach Rich] Morgan.  Coach Morgan told me to call Coach Stinespring.  I did and made it official,” said Bradshaw, who took a walk to calm down after phoning Stinespring.

Virginia Tech’s football tradition sparked Bradshaw’s interest in the Hokies.  More recently, he has grown to appreciate the coaches and the environment in Blacksburg.  He also is hoping to major in Sports Medicine and likes Tech’s reputation academically.

“I just like the atmosphere there,” Bradshaw said, referring to Virginia Tech.  “Like when I arrived on campus on Sunday, it just feels soothing.  I felt that way once I got out of the car.  The coaches are very welcoming, very laid back.  I have a personal relationship with them.  I can talk to them about everything.  Coach Stinespring, Coach Brown, Coach Moorehead, Coach Beamer… they are all great coaches.”
