Hokies down UConn 3-1; will play OK at 7 PM

Virginia Tech downed Connecticut 3-1 to eliminate the Huskies and set up a Sunday night game with Oklahoma. First pitch will be at 7 PM, and if the Hokies win, they’ll have to defeat Oklahoma again Monday night to advance to Super Regionals.

The game between #1 seed VT and #4 seed UConn was delayed two hours by rain and didn’t start until 3 PM, pushing back the start of the matchup between the Hokies and #2 seed Oklahoma until 7 PM.

  1. I don’t get it.

According to the article VT needed to beat OU twice to advance to the next round, but OU only needed to beat VT once to advance? What am I missing here?

    1. It’s double-elimination. You have to lose twice to be out. Tech had already lost once so…

If we had one, Oklahoma would have only one loss so we’d have to play them twice to move on…

    1. I’m guessing he was either there or skipped the first game and attended the second.
