Rising senior quarterback Jacob Park traveled from Goose Creek (S.C.) to Ashburn (VA) this past weekend to compete in the Washington D.C. Nike Football Training Camp.  The 6’3″, 200-pound signal caller, a player who threw for around 2700 yards and totaled 29 touchdowns his junior season, reflected on the experience.

“I felt good.  I wasn’t as consistent as I wanted to be, just because I was working on all the stuff coach was telling me to work on,” said Park, who competed alongside other top rising senior quarterbacks such as William Crest, Andrew Ford (Camp MVP), and Caleb Henderson.  “I was more just trying to get better, and I think I got way better as a player today.  I try to stay coachable.  I had a good time.  I got a lot out of the day.”

Park has an important few months ahead.  The Stratford High School product will have spring practice with his team, which is looking to build off of the 10-3 record it compiled in the 2012 season.  Recruiting will be at the forefront as well, as Park is looking to make a verbal commitment by the end of June.  Claiming no favorite right now, Park plans on making two rounds of visits before making his college choice.

“It’s fair game right now,” Park said.  “I’m going to Mississippi State, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida State, and then my second trip I’m going to Louisville, Notre Dame.  I was going to West Virginia, but one of my boys (Crest) just committed, so that’s off the map.  I was going to North Carolina, but my other friend (Henderson) just committed, so that’s off the map.  Then VT’s going to be my last visit.”
