Jalyn Holmes Talks MVP Honors, VT Visit

Lake Taylor (Norfolk, VA) star rising senior Jalyn Holmes has star potential at tight end and defensive end, but he showed off his defensive talents during the Nike Football Training Camp in Ashburn (VA) this past Sunday.  The 6’5″, 240-pound outperformed a talented group of defensive linemen to capture position MVP honors, and he also came away with an invite to Nike’s The Opening, an invite only combine featuring 150 of the top players in the country (primarily rising senior prospects).

“It’s a good, special day,” Holmes said at the camp’s conclusion.

Holmes shined this past season as a junior, establishing himself as one of the Commonwealth’s top prospects in the class of 2014.  He finished the year with 40 tackles for loss and 11 sacks, helping the Titans capture the Group AAA, Division 5 state championship in the process.

Reflecting on his performance at the Nike Camp, Holmes said:  “I felt like I did real good, coming off the ball fast, using my hands.  I picked up a lot of new stuff I didn’t know and used it well in a short period of time.”
