Chancellor Sophomore OL Has Two Offers

Having garnered double-digit college scholarship offers including a recent one from Tennessee, Chancellor (Fredericksburg, VA) junior offensive lineman Steven Moss is already well known on the major college recruiting front.  The Chargers boast a second major college prospect on the O-line, though, in sophomore Matt Burrell.

Clemson and North Carolina have offered Burrell, who is also very much on the radar of in-state ACC programs UVa and Virginia Tech.  Assistant coach Chris Lam, who handles recruiting for the Chargers varsity squad, feels as though a Virginia offer is “right around the corner.”

Matthew Burrell is a very hard worker on and off the field and in the classroom,” Lam wrote in an e-mail.  “He is an excellent athlete for his size (6’5″ 265 lbs.) and is only 15 years old.  He had a great sophomore season and progressed each week.  He has an excellent frame and will continue to grow and develop.”

Burrell earned first-team all-Battlefield District honors this past season for his play at offensive tackle.  A good athlete, he is playing on the Chargers varsity basketball squad that is 12-4 so far this season.
