Tech’s Freefall Continues

What a difference a month makes.  On December 1, Virginia Tech whipped #15 Oklahoma State 81-71 in Cassell Coliseum, and we were all wondering whether the Hokies would crack the Top 25 when the next polls were released.  Tech was shooting the lights out under new head coach James Johnson, they were playing confidently, and they had two quality back-to-back wins over the Cowboys and the Iowa Hawkeyes.  All seemed well.

Tech has played eight games since that Oklahoma State game, and the Hokies haven’t played well in any of them.

West Virginia: Tech had a defensive lapse in the final seconds that gave an offensively-challenged WVU team a one-point win.

Mississippi Valley State: Tech won this game 70-49, but didn’t play particularly well.
