It’s safe to say that Lake Taylor (Norfolk, VA) tight end/defensive end Jalyn Holmes has had a good year on the athletic front. In addition to becoming one of the most sought after prospects in the state of Virginia’s class of 2014, Holmes helped the Titans capture the Group AAA Division 5 state championship.

Lake Taylor finished the 2012 season with an undefeated record, defeating previous state title holders Phoebus and Stone Bridge en route to the championship crown.

“It feels good to know that people doubted you the whole time, and you just kept pushing and kept fighting,” said Holmes, who had 40 tackles for loss including 11 sacks heading into the December 8 state title game against Stone Bridge. He had 24 catches for 351 yards and seven touchdowns on the year.

“We always played together. We just kept pumping each other up. We followed the game plan. We fought so hard the whole season, even in the preseason.”
