Decision Time Coming For Fork Union OL

Former Mauldin (S.C.) star offensive tackle  Jonathan McLaughlin  is getting close to making his college choice.  East Carolina, Virginia, and Virginia Tech are the three primary contenders, but Miami is making a late push and the 6’4″, 288-pound postgraduate prospect is interested in exploring the option.

“I’ve been talking to [Miami assistant coach Paul] Williams a lot.  I’m trying to visit sometime before New Year’s, but if not I will make my decision before January.  If I don’t visit, I’ll decide from [East Carolina, Virginia, and Virginia Tech],” McLaughlin said.

As a high school senior, McLaughlin signed with ECU last February but did not qualify.  The Fork Union Military Academy (VA) postgraduate prospect declares he is no longer committed to the Pirates, and he admits it’s likely he will end up attending college in the state of Virginia.  McLaughlin lived in Danville in his early childhood years before moving to the Palmetto State, where he has lived for 12 years.

“To be honest, it’s kind of between Virginia and Virginia Tech,” said McLaughlin, who has made official visits to both schools over the course of the past month.  “They have been the most active in my recruitment.”
