Last weekend, Virginia Tech’s men’s basketball program scored a commitment from highly regarded guard Donte Clark , a Charlotte (N.C.) native attending Hargrave Military Academy (Chatham, VA) this year.  The 6’4″ senior is categorized as a shooting guard by Rivals.com (which ranks him as a 4-star) and Scout.com (3-star), and as a small forward by ESPN.com (4-star).  Last weekend, though, he revealed the Hokies want him to play point guard.

Clark gained valuable experience running the point for the Georgia Stars AAU squad this spring and summer.

“Donte ran the point the majority of the summer,” said Stars head coach Troy Vincent.  “Even when he played off the ball, he would eventually get the ball in his hands.”

Vincent, who only coached the Tech-bound recruit for one AAU season, says Clark became more comfortable playing the point as the AAU season progressed.
