Like the rest of the Hermitage (Richmond, VA) varsity football squad, running back Derrick Green is busy preparing for this Saturday’s regular season opener against Fork Union Military Academy. The 6’0″, 230-pound rising senior no doubt still has recruiting on his mind, though, as he has yet to make his college choice.
Green, rated a 5-star prospect by Rivals.com, had a long list of major college suitors. In early August, he narrowed the field to six: Auburn, Michigan, Mississippi, Oregon, Tennessee and Virginia Tech. He recently visited Auburn and Georgia, and the Bulldogs seem to be in contention as well.
“He has mentioned before that there is one thing in common with the [finalists],” Panthers head coach Patrick Kane said. “They are all places with strong running back tradition.”
From here, Green plans to take official visits before making his commitment.
