It was May of 2011 when I asked the question, How Good is Logan Thomas … Really? One season later, we know the answer.

It’s interesting reading a few items from the spring and summer of 2011. In the article linked above, I quote Stewart Mandel of Sports Illustrated, who wrote about how Hokie fans were “giddily awaiting the debut of [Tyrod] Taylor’s replacement.”

Why would an SI writer know anything about a backup QB at Virginia Tech who had only thrown 26 passes in 2010, all but two of them coming against CMU, Wake Forest and Duke, obscure games shown only on ESPNU and the ACC Network?

It appears that after the Virginia Tech coaching staff got a good look at Logan Thomas during 2011 spring football, and they saw his potential, they were telling national prognosticators that LT was something special. In his preseason 2011 Herbie Awards, ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit named Logan #3 on his list of “Names You’ll Know by October.”
