Hokies Land Pair Of Rising Juniors

Virginia Tech has snagged a pair of prospects from the class of 2014.  Xavier Burke , a 6’3″, 245-pound tight end/defensive lineman out of Brunswick County High School (Lawrenceville, VA), and Javon Harrison , a 6’2″, 190-pound wide receiver/cornerback out of Kathleen High School (Lakeland, FL), verbally committed to the Hokies days after attending Tech’s July 14 camp.

Multiple outlets, including the Bright House Sports Network (article here), confirm Harrison’s commitment.  Brunswick head coach Harold L. Williams confirmed Burke’s decision to TechSideline.com this afternoon.

“He talked to Coach Stinespring today and told him Tech was where he wanted to be,” Williams said of Burke, who becomes Brunswick County’s first ACC football commitment since E.J. Wilson (UNC).  Burke commits to Tech one day after being offered by Frank Beamer and company.

“He was kind of open.  I think he was looking at William & Mary, JMU, and he had been to UVa.  [This past Saturday] was his first time at Tech.  They were always in the back of his mind.  He just hadn’t had the opportunity to visit.  He liked everything about it.”
