Friday Q&A: June 29, 2012

1: What five players can we not afford to be injured this year, excluding Logan Thomas?  Why?

Chris Coleman: Player #1 is easy.  After that, it gets tougher.

Kyle Fuller returns a spring scrimmage pick for a TD

Kyle Fuller : Fuller can play any position in the Virginia Tech secondary.  He can play corner, he could play either safety spot, he has played both boundary and field corner, and he can play inside in a nickel/whip linebacker role.  He is simply the most versatile defensive player on the roster, and perhaps in the entire ACC.  His presence allows Bud Foster so many different options as defensive coordinator.  After Logan, he is the guy I would least like to lose.

Detrick Bonner : Yep, another secondary guy.  Bonner had a great spring at safety for Virginia Tech, and his backups don’t have the trust of Torrian Gray or Bud Foster yet.  Nothing will lose you a game faster than a safety missing an assignment and giving up a big play.  Bonner is Tech’s best and most experienced safety.  It’s important that he stay healthy this season.
