The Hokies return their top two quarterbacks for the 2012 season. This spring they’ll work on timing with Tech’s new receivers, and focus on developing Mark Leal into a backup who is ready to play if needed.
Unfortunately, Logan Thomas and Leal are the only scholarship quarterbacks on the roster. Ju-Ju Clayton would have been a r-senior, but with his degree in hand he decided not to spend another season as Tech’s #3 quarterback.
Clayton’s departure leaves Tech a bit short-handed this spring, but it’s hard to complain about the guys who will be running the #1 and #2 offense. Thomas had a big season as a first-year starter in 2011, and Leal looked very good in limited work.
