Shuman High On Potential Of VT Recruits

Fork Union Military Academy postgraduate head coach John Shuman describes Virginia Tech-bound wide receiver Robert Lockhart as “explosive.” Lockhart, who signed with the Hokies out of West Boca Raton High School (Boca Raton, FL) last February, helped the FUMA postgrads to a 7-1 overall record that included two wins over in-state rival Hargrave Military Academy.

The standout receiver had a 52-yard touchdown reception in FUMA’s 37-9 win over Hargrave on November 4. The previous game, a 25-19 victory over Gray Military Academy, he had a 40-yard touchdown catch.

“He is explosive, has good hands, makes everything look really easy,” Shuman said of Lockhart. “We should’ve played him both ways but kept him only at receiver. He probably made the most explosive plays for us this year. He could outrun the defense. He could catch it and go.”

Shuman continued the high praise for Lockhart, who he compared to former Fork Union and Clemson star Jacoby Ford. Ford is now a wide receiver for the Oakland Raiders.
