Thompson Lost for Season … Again

The Virginia Tech basketball team suffered a major injury on Wednesday. J.T. Thompson, a r-senior, tore the ACL in his right knee in practice and will miss all of the 2011-12 season.

Thompson was supposed to be a senior last season, but tore the ACL in his left knee in the preseason. After spending the entire offseason rehabilitating his knee, he was expected to return to the court in a reserve role this season.

In 2009-10, Thompson came off the bench to provide the Hokies with a lot of energy and production. He averaged 7.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game that year, including a 17-point performance in Tech’s win at UVA.
