Virginia Tech picked up another big defensive line commitment on Sunday night when Benedictine School (Richmond, VA) standout Nigel Williams gave his verbal pledge over several other major offers.
Williams is a 6-3, 250-lbs prospect who also held offers from UVA, UNC, NC State, Maryland, Duke, UConn and Boston College. He had 17.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks last season, while also catching 15 passes for 236 yards as a tight end.
A very athletic lineman, Williams could end up at either defensive end or defensive tackle at the college level, though tackle is his likely position. He also plays basketball and lacrosse for his school.
We hope to catch up with Williams tomorrow for comments on his decision.
