Offer Profile: Brentwood Academy’s Woody Baron

Brentwood Academy (Nashville, TN) junior Woody Baron was a finalist for DII-AA Lineman Mr. Football honors in the state this past season, the latest honor in what has been an outstanding 3-year career on the varsity level.

“I think Woody has always been a great player. Even when he was in middle school, we could tell he was a great football player,” Brentwood Academy head coach Ralph Potter said. “He has always been a mature person, very goal oriented. He has a plan to get where he wants to be. That kind of maturity has separated him.”

A freshman playing, much less starting, on Brentwood’s varsity level is a rarity according to Coach Potter. Baron, however, showed he could handle the transition prior to his freshman year. After Baron’s 8th grade season had concluded, Potter brought him up to watch practice and “mix it up a little bit” in with the varsity squad.

“Right away, we saw that he was physically and mentally able to play on that level,” Potter said.
