Skill Players Highlight Dale’s 2011 Squad

Group AAA, Division 6 state champions in 2009, Thomas Dale (Chester, VA) was in rebuilding mode last season. A talented group of players return next season, though, and the Knights are primed make a run at the Central district title. Wide receiver/safety Lorenzo Fields headline Dale’s 2012 group, with Frye having already scored an FBS-level scholarship offer and Fields very much on the radar of several FBS-level programs.

Desmond Frye

Virginia Tech has offered and Virginia, Rutgers, and South Florida are expressing serious interest in Frye, who enjoyed a breakout performance at wide receiver and safety last season. He earned first-team all-district honors at receiver and second-team honors at defensive back.

Desmond Frye burst onto the radar last year,” Thomas Dale head coach Kevin Tucker said. “He is 6-3, 190 pounds. He had four interceptions and 16 pass break-ups last year. He was in the 50 range with tackles. On offense, he had 27 catches for 527 yards and seven touchdown receptions. He can really go up and get the football. He has big play potential.”
