Source: Productive LB/S Commits To Hokies

Virginia Tech certainly scored a big win on the basketball court last night, but the football program enjoyed some success as well. TSL sources report that the Hokies have received a commitment from 6-2, 195-pound linebacker/safety Dahman McKinnon , a junior who was in attendance for yesterday’s junior day event.

Virginia Tech now has four commitments in the 2012 class with three of the four projected to play on the defensive side of the ball.

McKinnon led South View (Hope Mills, N.C.) in tackles his sophomore season with 82. As a junior, he totaled over 140 tackles including five sacks. He was named one of the “10 most exciting players in Cumberland County” by the Fayetteville Observer last October.

“Dahman is pretty quick, runs well and of course he has that size. The good thing is that we have him coming back next year, too,” South View head coach Randy Ledford told the Fayetteville Observer last fall.

McKinnon is a potential Whip linebacker or safety in Bud Foster’s defensive system.
