North Edgecombe (Tarboro, N.C.) junior Montrezl Harrell has visited East Carolina, South Carolina and Wake Forest previously. This weekend, the 6-7, 230-pound forward heads to Blacksburg for a closer look at Virginia Tech, which has extended a scholarship offer to the Rivals.com and Scout.com 4-star athlete.

“I have a good relationship with the coaching staff, especially with Coach Richardson. This weekend, I’m looking forward to getting a feel for everything,” said Harrell, who will see Virginia Tech take on Duke on Saturday night. He plans to stay overnight at Tech before heading home Sunday.

Clemson, ECU, Miami, South Carolina, UNC-Wilmington, Wake Forest and Xavier join Virginia Tech in hot pursuit of Harrell, who was asked which schools, if any, had caught his attention.

“A few schools have caught my attention,” said Harrell, who plans to make a verbal commitment at the end of the coming AAU season. “I like Virginia Tech, Miami, Wake Forest and Clemson. They are standing out right now.”
