Virginia Tech has struck again in the 2012 class. After landing two top cornerback prospects in Florida’s Donaldven Manning and Georgia’s Davion Tookes, the Hokies have secured an offensive recruit in All Saints Episcopal (Fort Worth, TX) quarterback T.J. Millweard. Millweard called and committed to the Tech coaches on Monday following a weekend unofficial visit to Blacksburg.

All Saints head coach Aaron Beck went into depth on his standout signal caller’s interest in Virginia Tech and subsequent decision to commit.

“I did speak a ton with him about this,” Beck said. “Before last Christmas break, T.J. gave me a list of 15 schools he was interested in and Virginia Tech was one of them. T.J. is from Texas, but he did elementary school in Missouri and his dad travels quite a bit. T.J. called me last Friday night when he got there and said, ‘Oh my God, coach, this is beautiful.’ Saturday, he told me he was just really impressed with the coaching staff and the quality of the program. I think everyone he met put him and his family at such ease. He got excited and told me he would get back and wait a few weeks. He got back and called me on Monday and said he knew Virginia Tech was where he wanted to go.

“We’re all excited. Going through this process for 20 years, I’m excited because he feels really good about it. Also, recruiting can take up such a big part of a kid’s life. Now that it’s done, he can focus on football. He texted me last night, ‘That’s over. Let’s get busy.'”
