Top Target Updates: Anthony, Terrell

It’s looking increasingly likely that star linebacker prospect Stephone Anthony will not announce his college choice at the Under Armour All-American Bowl on January 5. The 6-3, 225-pound senior has tentatively scheduled official visits to Clemson and Virginia Tech, but both visits would take place in January.

“He’s probably going to take his official visits in January,” Anson (Wadesboro, N.C.) head coach Luke Hyatt said. “He has run into a bind. He reports to the Shrine Bowl this weekend. The Shrine Bowl takes place next Saturday. I believe he’ll report to the Under Armour All-American Bowl on December 30. He’s just strapped for time. I don’t even know if he’ll make all five official visits.”

Coach Hyatt hasn’t spoken with Anthony since the news of Urban Meyer’s resignation broke, but certainly this development can’t help Florida, which had come back to the pack recently after leading this race for quite some time. Clemson, Florida and Virginia Tech have been consistently mentioned by the talented prospect as schools he will visit officially. North Carolina and N.C. State also remain in the running, Hyatt says.

“I think they are still in the mix a little bit,” Hyatt said of UNC and N.C. State. “They’ve done a great job of recruiting.
