As a result of their 44-7 victory over Duke, the Hokies jumped up two spots in the three major polls this week, as well as two spots in the BCS standings.
In the Coaches’ Poll and the Harris Poll, which are used by the BCS, Virginia Tech is ranked 21st nationally. They also jumped up from #25 to #23 in the latest BCS rankings. They moved up to #21 in the AP Poll, which does not count in the BCS standings.
Tech is one of three ACC teams ranked in the Top 25. Florida State is #16 in the BCS, #15 in the Coaches’ Poll, #16 in the AP Poll and #16 in the Harris Poll. Miami comes in at #22 in all the major polls, including the BCS.
With three consecutive games against Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Miami, the Hokies will have a chance to move up even further in the rankings.
The November 20 matchup at Miami looks like it could decide the Coastal Division championship. The Hokies are a perfect 4-0 in the ACC, while Miami is 3-1. Every other team has at least two losses.
