Kempsville (Virginia Beach, VA) star Travis Hughes has described the University of Virginia as an “X-factor” in his decision. The 6-1, 215-pound linebacker prospect visited UVa on Friday in hopes of learning more about the football program and the school in general. He reflected on the visit.

“You name it, we did it,” said Hughes, who arrived around 10 in the morning and left around 3 in the afternoon. “We did a tour of the campus. It’s spread out. They call it the Grounds. My little sister was with us and she is a basketball player, so they took us to see the basketball gym and the practice court. That was real cool. At the end of the visit, there was meeting stuff. I spent a good while with the coaches.”

One of the primary goals of the visit was to learn more about the football program. What did the rising senior star learn?

“A lot,” Hughes answered. “The coaches are really serious. In this class, they are bringing in their first class. They want this class to set off their program. They feel like bringing in players like me is what they need to do to get the program started off right. They showed me so much love I thought I had to buy some rings or something. Coach Reid, Coach Brown and Coach West talked to me. And Coach London is awesome. He is a really personal guy. I could talk to him about just about anything. It would be awesome to be coached by those guys…all of them.”
