South County (Lorton, VA) star rising senior Ronny Vandyke has yet to visit Virginia Tech since he committed in late February, but that is expected to change this weekend. Vandyke, a 6-3, 200-pound safety/linebacker prospect, will be in attendance for Saturday’s one-day camp. He won’t be participating, but he’ll be there in support of his brother, Devin, who will.

“Going back there, I’m excited to talk to the coaches again,” said Vandyke, who committed at Virginia Tech’s Prospect Day on February 27. “This will be the first time I’ve been there after I committed. I also want to see if any other committed kids in my class are going to be there, so I can get to know them.”

Ronny scored a verbal scholarship offer from Virginia Tech before the end of his sophomore year and, despite missing the entire 2009 season due to a shoulder injury, received close to 10 official scholarship offers before picking the Hokies. For Ronny, the recruiting process was fairly easy.

“Getting offered early helped me out a lot,” he said. “You usually have to go to camps to get looks, but getting offers before my sophomore year was over gave me good options early.”
