Wolff Hired as Director of Basketball Operations

Seth Greenberg completed his coaching staff on Tuesday when Virginia Tech
announced the hiring of Dennis Wolff as Director of Basketball Operations. With
the hiring of Wolff, Greenberg now has a full, working basketball staff.

Wolff is perhaps the most overqualified Director of Basketball Operations in
the country. He served as head coach at Boston University from 1994 through
2009, where he compiled a 247-197 (.556). He is Boston’s all-time leader in
wins, and his teams made two NCAA Tournaments and three NIT’s.

Before his stint as the head coach at Boston, Wolff served as an assistant
coach at UVA under Jeff Jones from 1990 through 1994, and at Wake Forest from
1985 through 1989. He has a lot of head coaching experience, plus a lot of
experience as an assistant coach in the ACC. Wolff was a three-time America East
Conference Coach of the Year.

Though Wolff technically isn’t an assistant coach, he will direct the day to
day operations of the men’s basketball program. He will also be available to
Seth Greenberg for ideas.

“I will use Dennis as a sounding board to gain feedback on what we are
doing and how we are doing it,” Greenberg said in Virginia Tech’s press
release.

Wolff joins a staff that includes assistant coaches James Johnson, John
Richardson and Adrian Autry.
