Today, Cave Spring (Roanoke, VA) head coach Tim Fulton expects to host a coach from Boston College at school. Tomorrow, a Vanderbilt coach will stop in. Throughout the past two weeks, Fulton has seen coaches from Connecticut, Duke, East Carolina, Liberty, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. The Evaluation Period is in full swing and “it’s been nice to be busy,” Fulton says.

Cave Spring, Region IV, Division 3 champions last season, boasts two potential FBS prospects in linebacker/safety Michael Cole and quarterback Josh Woodrum.

“Number one, what makes Michael special that a lot of people don’t realize is he triple jumped almost 44 feet as a freshman,” Fulton said. “That’s a very good jump as a freshman. He is the first athlete to have a shot at breaking Tiki Barber’s school triple jump record. Once he did that, we knew Michael was a tremendous athlete. What really started garnering the attention of college coaches was when he ran a 4.49 in the 40 at a Nike Combine. He is right at 6-2, 200 pounds. The speed he showed started flipping a lot of switches right there. He’s a multisport athlete. He plays basketball as well. He does a great job for us at linebacker or safety. We move him wherever we need to make things happen.

“With Josh, I am starting to get the feeling that he is a FBS recruit. I know Boston College has been very interested in Josh. Josh has gone up there and visited and they’ve expressed an interest. They are supposed to be here [today] to take a look at him. Vanderbilt has shown a big interest in Josh. He has been out there a couple of times. U-Conn had seen film and they said they really liked the way the kid looked and moved out there. He is starting to see more interest.”
