Phoebus (Hampton, VA) linebacker prospect Caleb Taylor spoke with several Virginia Tech coaches last Saturday. He got a somewhat better feel for where he stands in terms of a scholarship offer, but for now he is holding steady at four official offers – Louisville, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.

“[The Virginia Tech coaches have] watched tape,” the 6-2, 230-pound linebacker said. “They like me and would want me to play inside for them. Coach Foster thought I fit into the defense. He wants me to come to camp because they don’t have that many scholarships. They want to make sure my knee is good.”

There doesn’t appear to be any guarantee, but “If I did good at [Virginia Tech’s June 5] camp, I think I’ll have an offer,” Taylor said.

The Phantoms star, who missed most of last season due to a torn ACL, enjoyed Saturday’s experience in Blacksburg.
