2011 Profile: QB Marquise Williams

Marquise Williams established himself as one of the top playmakers in the state of North Carolina last season, totaling 3,400 yards of offense (2,400 passing and 1,000 rushing) and 40 touchdowns for Mallard Creek (Charlotte, N.C.). The 6-3, 215-pound junior signal caller has ability as a passer and a runner, but something else may set him apart from other prospects.

“I just bring that motor,” he said. “If I’m lazy, my team will be lazy. I try to keep working hard. I keep my work ethic up and I keep competing. I try to stay on top and be a leader for my team. I’m not an arrogant kid. I’m humble. I just try to work hard and stay humble.”

Williams entered this offseason knowing he needed to improve his footwork as a passer. So far, he is pleased with the development.

“I work on my footwork more and more,” Williams said. “I’m happy with my 3-step and 5-step drop downs. I get better and better as I keep working on it. I think I’m pretty good now.”
