VT Looking To Impress Star LB Anthony

Anson High School (Wadesboro, N.C.) boasts one of the country’s top junior linebackers in 6-3, 220-pound Stephone Anthony . TechSideline.com caught up with the top rising senior prospect at last Saturday’s Shrine Bowl in Matthews, North Carolina, where he showed why college coaches are in hot pursuit.

Anson head coach Luke Hyatt, in attendance to watch four of his athletes compete, raved about Anthony’s talents and character.

“He’s a great football player, but that doesn’t tell you half the story with him,” Hyatt said of Anthony, who looked every bit of 6-3, 220 pounds and ran the 40 in 4.49 and 4.55 seconds (hand-timed) on Saturday. “He’s just such a great person and that makes him such a joy to coach. It ain’t all about Stephone. It’s about the team. He’s going to do everything in his power to make the team successful. He’s where he’s supposed to be in the classroom. He’s where he’s supposed to be off the field. He’s ‘yes, sir’ and ‘no, sir’ and he’s friends with everybody in the school. He’s a people person. He likes to get along with the coaching staff and the players and I think this will be a big part of his decision.”

Despite having top offers from throughout the country, Anthony is humble and is simply enjoying the recruiting process. Currently, he has offers from Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, UNC, N.C. State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, South Carolina, USC, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and others.
